This is a great find.
An interview with the late, great Tony Williams.
He talks about his early days with Jackie McLean and Miles Davis among other things.
Lots of great information here.
Apparently McLean had to ask Tony's mother for permission for him to join his band and move to New York from Boston.
The gig was actually an off-broadway show starring Jackie McLean called "The Connection" about a struggling jazz musician/junkie. Tony was in the band that backed McLean up for this production(!)
So, in a way, even Tony payed his dues playing shows !
